Student Coffee Makers for DormsEzine - 05/25/2011
Parents getting their college kids ready for school and setting up the dorms may be surprised at how little space the students have for personal belongings. This makes it challenging when furnishing the dorm with all the niceties of home. Finding the right sized coffee maker for the dorm room does not have to be one of those challenges. Many parents consider purchasing single cup coffeemakers such as the K-Cup or pod coffee makers but come to the conclusion that the coffee is less expensive in a pour over brewer that uses regular ground coffee. Keeping expenses low is always a concern for college students and their parents and although those are excellent coffee makers the coffee is a little more expensive than ground coffee. There are many small versions of automatic drip coffeemakers on the market that are ideal for dorms. Krups, Gevalia, Mr. Coffee and other well-known brands of coffeemakers have automatic drip coffee machines that are designed for smaller spaces and that make smaller amounts of coffee. College students don't typically need 8-10 cup makers that are the average size of home coffeemakers. This helps prevent wasted coffee in addition to having a smaller footprint in the dorm room. These smaller sized machines are usually 2-3 cups and are simple to operate. Some do have added features such as an auto-off feature and possibly a timer to start the coffee maker at a certain time determined by the student. This allows the coffee to be ready to brew when the student wakes up. Student coffee makers offer college students the opportunity to save money by not having to stop at the local coffee shop and pay exuberant prices for a cup of coffee or their favorite drink. Having a smaller coffee maker with some flavored syrups on hand or even flavored coffee can amount to huge money saved that they can spend on more important things. Parents who want to help their students with their coffee expenses can purchase them a monthly membership to a coffee club like Gevalia. Some of these clubs have the smaller sized coffeemakers and will give them as a free gift for joining the club. Then, every month, the student will receive a package of fresh coffee to use in their coffee makers. Filters are inexpensive and can be sent to the student as needed. Coffee is considered a necessity for most students and having their own coffeemaker is a great way for them to have access to their favorite java without spending excess money. A small sized machine is the ideal gift to give a new college student that will complete their dorm and make their college experience that much better.
