Why choose a nursing bra over regular bra during breastfeeding? Women's breasts undergo a very complex change during pregnancy and after giving birth. During the last trimester of pregnancy, the brain is sending information to the breasts to prepare for milk for the baby. After giving birth, once the baby starts to suck he's mother's breasts, a dramatic change in woman's breast will follow. Engorgement of the breast is very common situation during the first days of breastfeeding. It is the state wherein woman's breast will be full of milk, but it won't be able to flow out at first. That makes it a hurtful situation for new mothers.

One of the most important features of nursing bras is that they are made of a very stretchable material. This feature gives it the ability to stretch or adjust to the size of women's breast before, during and after breastfeeding. This is one of the main reasons why breastfeeding mothers should choose a nursing bra over regular bra.

Although regular bras are also made to support women's breast, regular bras cannot provide comfort to breastfeeding woman especially when they need to breastfeed in public. In order to do so, women have to lift up her shirt for the baby to reach her breast. Then she needs to expose the whole side of her breast. Now, that's embarrassing.
